How a Mobile App is Helping Fight Hunger

Roadrunner Food Bank has released the Android version of their mobile app. Over the past year, APPCityLife has worked with the Roadrunner Food Bank's communications team to complete a major redesign of the agency's original mobile app. While the original mobile application focused on donations, the newly designed app is focused on client services. The agency opted on the new design after new reports showed that 70% of all Americans owned smart phones and that about 15% of those in the lowest economic sector were solely dependent on their smart phone for access to the internet. By providing a native experience on mobile for their clients, they have removed barriers to easily accessing vital information. After piloting the revised app on iOS, the companion Android version was recently released for free download. The iOS version can be downloaded free in iTunes. This app is also part of the CityLife Open Source Solutions and available for food banks to template for their own app.
