Client: Roadrunner Food Bank
This app provides fingertip access to food drop-off locations, information about upcoming events, and everything you want to know about Roadrunner Food Bank, New Mexico's largest non-profit organization dedicated to ending hunger in New Mexico and operates warehouses in Albuquerque and Las Cruces.
Roadrunner Food Bank feeds over 70K families each week and needed a way to more easily communicate and provide information to those who were using the food bank’s services as well as provide food drop-off locations, information about upcoming food drives. Because a large portion of the food bank’s demographic only accessed information through a mobile device, a mobile app with push notifications was vital to meeting the needs of the agency’s outreach to provide real-time information about donations of food with short shelf-life as well as access to transit information for individuals using public transit to visit a distribution location.
Through the Road Runner Food Bank mobile app, users are able to access information on how to qualify and apply for assistance or can call a phone number where a volunteer will take their information over the phone or answer questions. Push notifications inform users of upcoming food drives as well as donations of food which need to be distributed quickly, allowing more fruits and vegetables to be distributed to hungry families. The app also provides useful information about other available services such as prescription discounts, etc. The addition of strategic sponsorships and local deals not only allows the food bank to keep technology costs low but provides useful discounts to their users.
